Sustainability Awareness Programme, Johnson Matthey plc
Johnson Matthey is a FTSE100 company which specialises in precious metals for industrial and commercial uses. The company has set ambitious sustainability targets to be met by 2017, the company’s second centenary. Terra Infirma is working with Johnson Matthey staff to embed a sustainability culture within the company.
The first phase of this project involved developing a workshop for staff from the Process Technologies division. The resulting workshop got delegates explore the business case for sustainability, and potential generic solutions. The main exercise is driven by the Terra Infirma brainstorming tool which is used to identify specific solutions for Johnson Matthey. The best of these are captured for the company’s continual improvement system. Delegates also completed pledge cards and individual action plans to help make the ideas stick. Over the first four workshops, the delegates scored the workshop an average of 8.5 out of 10.
The second phase of the programme involves the development of stand-alone packages to allow the engagement of Johnson Matthey staff around the world.
“The workshop was excellent. We have no hesitation in recommending Gareth and Terra Infirma Ltd to any organization that wishes to raise awareness of sustainability for its employees.”
