Healthy People, Healthy Planet with Dr Matt Sawyer and Dr Mike Tomson
Climate change has been described as the biggest health challenge of the modern day. Conversely, our health service has an enormous footprint – at least 4% of the UK’s carbon emissions. The third angle is that the solutions to one can be a solutions to the other – eg a shift from driving to cycling will reduce carbon emissions, cut obesity and improve air quality. To discuss this web of interactions, I’m joined on the podcast by two very experienced doctors, Matt Sawyer and Mike Tomson, who have edited a new book entitled Environmental Sustainability in Primary Care. The insights we get as we delve into the issues are valuable way beyond the health sector.
