Dear Gareth
I have been reading your blog for almost a year now an it has been incredibly useful to introducing me to the area of CSR that I have no prior knowledge of.
I am completing my MBA thesis at the University of Leeds. The thesis is on raising finance for a waste materials recovery machinery company. Effectively prodcuing MRF sorting systems and baling of waste materials systems for UK waste producers.
The problem is that I am struggling to come to any supported conclusions on the size of the market for UK organisations / local authorities producing over 500 tonnes of non-hazardous waste each year.
Really what I am having difficulty confirming is how many UK producers of waste would be able to justify (on a pure economic ROI basis) separating and baling their own waste. I am doing this to highlight one of the different aspects of the business case for organisations to invest in sustainability processes (as covered in your “The Business Case for Sustainability” clip – July 2010).
Any help or pointers that you could give me on the market for UK organisations / local authorities producing over 500 tonnes of non-hazardous waste each year would be hugely appreciated.
Kind regards
Ben Smart
