The Year of Sustainability
Happy belated New Year! I hope you had a good break – if you got one.
This is my first blog post since Christmas as last week was rocked by the announcement that UK schools were closing for the foreseeable, pitching me and Mrs K back into the maelstrom that is home schooling. A double shock as this Christmas was for me, despite all the background mayhem, the most relaxing I can ever remember and I really did switch off. Rebooting has taken a bit longer than usual…
I have decided that 2021 is going to be the year of Sustainability. Partly because we have no choice and partly, despite- maybe because of the pandemic, the last four months of 2020 were crazy busy for me and 2021 looks as if the trajectory is going to continue. I’ve engaged with over a hundred businesses ranging from sole traders to transnational corporations, and all of them seem to have a new seriousness about Sustainability. This is backed up by experiences in my political life and reading about the wider economy in the media. Between COP26 and all those climate emergency declarations, all the signs are pointing in the same direction, this is the year the rubber hits the road.
So, how are you going to get involved? Well, first up, make sure you sign up for 12½ Kick Ass Sustainability Ideas for 2021 – our annual free taster for our Green Academy training series which has been running on Zoom since before Zoom was famous (and for many years before that on an alternative platform).
